This report synthesizes key discussions and findings from two expert roundtables convened by the OSCE and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) in Vienna: “Preventing Women’s Terrorist Radicalization” held in December 2011 and “The Role and Empowerment of Women in Countering Violent Extremism and Radicalization that Lead to Terrorism” held in March 2013.
The report highlights the importance of adopting gender-sensitive and human rights-compliant approaches to countering violent extremism and radicalization. It outlines the diverse roles women can play in CVE efforts and identifies strategies to strengthen their participation and empowerment. The publication concludes with targeted recommendations for OSCE participating States, OSCE executive structures, and civil society organizations. The agendas for both roundtables are included in the appendix.
